Crispy, spicy, and packed with authentic Nashville flavor! This easy hot chicken recipe uses JM Thomason Hot Chicken Rub to create juicy chicken with a perfectly crunchy coating and just the right kick of heat. Serve it the traditional way with white bread and pickles for a true Southern favorite.

Ingredients

3 ½ Lbs. Chicken (Thighs, Drumsticks & Wings)
JM Thomason Hot Chicken Rub
3 eggs
2 cups buttermilk or whole milk
2 tbs. hot sauce (such as Louisiana or Texas Pete’s)
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbs. salt
Vegetable oil for frying
White bread
Sliced pickles

Directions

Rub JM THomason Hot Chicken Rub all over chicken. Cover and chill at least 3 hours.
Whisk eggs, buttermilk, and hot sauce in a bowl.
Whisk flour and salt in another bowl.
Dredge chicken in flour mixture, shaking off excess, then dip in milk mixture, letting excess drip back into bowl. Dredge again in flour mixture and place on a baking sheet.
Heat 2 inch of oil to 325 degrees in a deep pot.
Fry the chicken in the oil in batches until brown, crisp and cooked through.
Whisk 2 tbs. Hot Chicken Rub with a little melted butter or reserved frying oil and brush over chicken.
Serve with bread and pickles.
